Joana Gyan Cudjoe, the CEO of Golden Empire Legacy Limited, is set to make history as the first female to contest for the Amenfi Central Parliamentary seat in the Central Region. Ms. Cudjoe, an aspirant in the National Democratic Congress (NDC) primaries, is confident of winning the election and leading the party to victory in the 2024 general elections. She says she is determined to give hope to women and young girls in the constituency and encourage them to strive for excellence.

Ms. Cudjoe is one of five candidates contesting in the primaries and has placed fifth on the ballot paper. She believes that being cleared by the party’s special appeal committee after being disqualified from the race has put her in a better position to win the delegates’ votes. She is confident of winning the primaries with about 95 percent of the votes.

As a philanthropist and entrepreneur, Ms. Cudjoe wants to give hope to the people of Amenfi Central. She believes that as a woman in politics, she can encourage young girls and women to achieve greater heights and support men in the political arena. Ms. Cudjoe is committed to continuing her philanthropic work when she becomes the Member of Parliament for Amenfi Central.

Ms. Cudjoe is the Director of Keche Global Limited and a Board Member of GEM Multimedia Ghana Limited. She has over 20 years of experience in the mining sector and is an exporter of precious metals. She believes that alternative livelihoods must be provided to those engaging in illegal mining, and processes must be put in place to train and register them to engage in sustainable mining. Ms. Cudjoe is also the Mpuntuo Hemaa (development queen mother) of Wassa Agona Amenfi.

For the most part, Ms. Cudjoe believes that governments and other stakeholders must come together to find better ways of using the country’s numerous natural resources to better the lives of the youth. She cited Dubai, which does not have natural resources but is using gold to transform its country. Ms. Cudjoe is committed to soliciting funds and providing scholarships, training, and investments in social amenities through her entity, the Joana Gyan Foundation. She believes that this will go a long way in empowering the youth and developing the constituency.
